May 27, 2008· i removed the old valves and ordered new ones through honda. this is for an 85 110 head. when the new valves get here what do i need to do to the head to make sure they seat properly? i've heard of lapping but i'm not sure how to do it. any instructions would be great. thanks.
Grind-in each valve (including new valves) by hand, using a valve-grinding tool and valve-grinding paste. Attach the sucker on the grinding tool to the valve face. On some modern cars the valve faces have a thin coating which must not be removed.

Using the 906 heads myself, I can safely say do not worry about any percieved weakness in HP potential in comparison to the 062. They both make the same amount of power. The 062 is the head you will get when buying the Vortecs from the dealership/GMPP.

If shims are used to accomplish the adjustment, that's another story and dealer service will be necessary, as they are the only ones with the shims.

The problem is you can't tighten the valves easily on a L-head engine, only loosen and the only time you have to worry about it is when you do a full rebuild.
